TOMORROW AT 5PM (BST) The Design Edit launches the first of its new Collectible Conversations on Instagram Live. These will tackle ideas and themes arising from the field of collectible design in ways we hope will be amusing, challenging and stimulating. The first, ‘Design in a time of crisis’, will feature the Editor-in-Chief of The Design Edit, Emma Crichton-Miller, talking to gallery director Sarah Myerscough.

Myerscough is a long-term champion of international artists, designers and makers who are committed to craft technologies and organic materials, but are also driven to innovate with form and experiment with process. Many share an active concern for the environment, combining the desire to make exquisite objects for human delight with a compulsion to address the needs of the planet.

In this time of coronavirus, when the climate crisis has been amplified by a new emergency, forcing us to reassess our priorities, we will look at the response of the collectible design world. We will discuss how designers young and old are addressing these questions, what the impact of their researches and experiments is having on our ideas about beauty and value in design, and how collectors are responding.

We hope that as many of our readers as can, will join us live tomorrow at 5pm.
