THE DESIGN EDIT is proud to introduce the podcast Material Matters, created by writer and critic, Grant Gibson. Five-star rated on Apple Podcasts, these gems of informed interviewing take us into the studios of world-renowned artists and up and coming talents, to discuss their relationship with the materials they use.

Personal stories unfold of how their careers have been shaped by a particular craft skill and material. Previous seasons have seen Gibson talk porcelain with Edmund de Waal, discuss bee glue with Marlène Huissoud, chat about welding with Tom Dixon and trace Kate MccGwire’s love of feathers. One slot a season is devoted to a leading commentator – including Glenn Adamson and Deyan Sudjic.

Over the coming weeks the podcast will feature: a conversation with Bethan Laura Wood about laminate; Barnaby Barford, talking about ceramics; and an interview with architect Andrew Waugh about how cross-laminated-timber is the future. You will find them all here.
